Lady Magnificent: APHC & FAHR

Lady M is a stately fabulously patterned leopard mare. Bred by the late Frank Scripter, she resided for many years at the Messer Ranch in Moses Lake, Washington, where she had a phenomenal production record. She has been here at Ghostwind Appaloosas since 2007. A Solar Flair Eclat and Ghost Wind Maiden daughter we are so very pleased to have this exquisite mare Lady M, as a pivotal part of our leopard breeding program. We are also very pleased to have retained three of her and Apache Kid Galahad’s progeny, see Apache Polar Storm, Lady Galahads Ebony and Apache Solar Dancer, for our future breeding considerations.

Rocky

Rockalena Not: APHC & FAHR

Pedigree

Rocky is a regal appaloosa mare, she’s a Solar Flair Eclat and Rockalena Too daughter bred by the late Frank Scripter. Rocky has never been used in anyone’s breeding program as she has primarily been used as a dressage lesson horse at an Andalusian breeding & training facility in the U.S. Midwest. She has a fabulous disposition and equally fabulous conformation and according to our trainer, she’s one of the smoothest riding horses she’s ever ridden. We are looking forward to using Rocky not only in our breeding program but also as one of our primary riding horses here on our ranch. For now she’s doing her broodmare duties and expecting her first foal this spring.

HMH Untraceable: APHC

Tracy also comes from the Solar Flair Eclat line. She hails from the High Mountain Hollow program in upstate New York. She has what we like to see in our broodmares, nice big shoulder, substantial hip and good bone, intelligence and a willingness to learn. (especially how to open gate latches). She is a gorgeous blue roan with those particular markings that denote deep foundation breeding. Tracy is also doing her broodmare duties this year. She put such a beautiful tall filly (see Phantom’s Midnight Ice on the yearling page)) on the ground last year, we had to repeat the breeding.

CTR Sunrise Powderface: APHC

We are very pleased to have Powderface in our Ghostwind Appaloosas program. This big 16 hand mare has big lofty movement, nice bone, uphill build and she’s a love to work with. Powderface has started her training this year as she was purposefully left open so she can continue growing after having her first foal last year. Powderface was bred by CT Appaloosas of South Dakota and we are quite excited about this young mare’s future prospect. The added bonus is that she’s also from Solar Flair Eclat lineage.

Tobpatchy Snookum

A fancy blue roan mare she hails from the CTR Appaloosa program in South Dakota. She is a great riding mare who’s been used in everything from polo to working cows on our ranch to team penning. The “Toby” breeding in her pedigree says it all for us. Snook’s now engaged in broodmare duties. She has the great mindset appaloosas are known for and we know she will produce phenomenal foals crossed with Phantom.

Lorelie’s Fire Opal

She’s a beautiful tri colored leopard foundation mare from Red Eagle, Polar Star and Prince Plaudit breeding. She has great confirmation, easy flowing movement and an exceptional mind. She was bred to HMH Phantom Spirit last year and gave us a great colt, Phantom’s Apache Fire. He is so exceptional we know we have discovered one of those crosses one only dreams of.

She is bred to Phantom again for a mid June 2010 foal.

Van’s Classy Gal

Bred by Dick Vanderby in Montana, past APHC Board of Director and foundation appaloosa breeder, ‘Squeak’ has a true foundation personality. This fancy leopard appaloosa mare comes from such great appaloosas as Chief Chelsea, Polar Star, Red Eagle and Apache. She has 69 registered F’s in her background.

Squeak’s personality, pedigree, physical build, and willingness to perform are all indicative of her marvelous assets. She is a winner in every way in our “appaloosa world.” We are pleased and proud to have her as another cornerstone in our mare band.

Dais Delta Dawn

This is another foundation appaloosa mare from Dick Vanderby’s program. Almost 16hh, this tri-colored leopard has smooth, lofty movement, great withers, long legs and a congenial disposition. Her pedigree and confirmation speaks to sport horse disciplines.

Bred for her first time to HMH Phantom Spirit, we are excited to see what this cross will produce, she is due in April 2010.

Boo is an 8 year old mare, whose lineage also goes back to Prince Plaudit and Starbuck Leopard and some interesting old line twists. She also hails from Vanderby’s in Montana. She has really unique coloring and we will be adding her foundation bloodlines to our broodmare band.

Hydro

YOR Hydro Jet

Pedigree

A modern bred we acquired before we decided to focus our breeding program on foundation appaloosas. Her top side has High Sign Nugget who is known for his many reining champions. We retained Hydro in our program as she crosses exceptionally well with Phantom, (see Phantoms Desert Hawk on our yearling page). Their progeny should do amazingly well competing in the western horse events. Plus Hydro’s personality is such that she’s considered’ “a love,” by my wife. Hydro is one of our working ranch horses when she’s not on broodmare duty.
